The Ironwood typographic posters was an exercise in promoting an "unappealing" typeface and convincing people to use it. I was assigned promoting the typeface "Ironwood", an Adobe Originals Typeface designed by Joy Redick in 1990.
I approached this project by wanting to deconstruct the typeface's cliches, saturated by previous conceptions/interpretations, while still honouring the qualities that define it. I decided to try and view through a modern lens, using chrome and digital treatments to bring a contemporary feel to this dated typeface. These posters present the typeface in an unconventional context, while still making it feel cohesive and authentic in the way that is used. The final outcomes are two posters that exist in a universe of harmonious dissonance.
